Students from Kingston Primary School, in Church Road, were back to their normal lessons today having enjoyed five days of workshops covering everything from the art of icecream making to poetry.

Teacher Samantha Summersgill said: "Every year we try and take a week off normal lessons to concentrate on just one element of the curriculum.

"Last year it was science and this year it was art, so there were workshops in dancing, printing, necklace making, as well as poetry sessions and an icecream factory."

She said pupils in different year groups were working with one another.

She said: "It means the students now recognise each other in the playground and feel like they've got friends in all different classes, not just their own."
