Hoardings blocking motorists' visibility on a main Thundersley route have been modified.

Hart Road, which has a current speed limit of 10mph because of building works, has been the scene of several accidents in the past few months.

Drivers' visibility should be better after the size of the boards blocking their view was reduced.

The safety of the stretch of road, alongside which plans for 19 retirement flats have been approved, has been repeatedly called into question, despite the low speed limit.

This was mainly due to a sharp bend with poor visibility, a situation compounded by the building work being carried out for a new block of flats on the bend.

Castle Point Council has taken steps to help drivers by minimising the fencing and is in discussion with the developers at the site about funding for a proposed permanent traffic-calming scheme.
