Youngsters from the Phoenix Primary School, in Leinster Road, Laindon, were in dress rehearsals for Moving On, a play based on making the right decisions to lead a more fulfilling life.
Every single one of the school's 360 students and teachers has been involved in making the show, which will run at the school next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
Deputy headteacher Christine Poole produced the show with Year 5 teacher Adele Walker.
Mrs Poole said: "Moving on is about making the right choices. It is a journey through different lands and the main characters make the realisation that material possessions are not the be all and end all. They realise love and life in general are just as important."
The play is being held to commemorate the amalgamation of Bluehouse Infant and Junior Schools last summer.
