Police have pledged to look again at areas left out of planned new dispersal orders for youngsters after worries expressed by parish councillors.

The proposals for the Rochford district, agreed by the district council, cover a number of areas in Rayleigh, Hullbridge, Hockley, Hawkwell and Rochford.

But two alleged trouble spots, in Main Road and at the Golden Cross corner in Hawkwell, have not been included.

Hawkwell Labour parish councillor Myra Weir said: "I am very worried. These are the two major problem spots we identified but they have not been included in those the police are going to target.

"The parish council held a public meeting specifically over the problems at the shopping centre in Main Road but this seems to have been ignored."

Acting Insp Kevin Diable-White, of Rayleigh Police, said: "We are required to look at the number of incidents which have been reported to the police by the local community and councillors."

He said he would be asking colleagues to look again at the figures for incidents in Main Road and at Golden Cross Parade.

He added: "If there have been problems and they can be identified, the areas for the orders can be extended."
