School children were given an insight into tying the knot Indian-style when they held a mock wedding ceremony in traditional Hindu saris and turbans.
Dressed up - Luke Watson and Andrea McCloskey, both nine, enact a Hindu wedding Picture: ROBIN WOOSEY
When Year 3 pupils from Friars Junior School, Shoebury, re-enacted a Hindu wedding as part of their studies for the school's multicultural week, they tried on traditional clothes and were told what happens in the ceremony.
Teacher Gail Geary said: "They absolutely loved getting dressed up. The world is a small place, so it's good for the children to experience and enjoy other cultures."
The children later learned about Indian art and crafts.
