Public art could be on show on roundabouts at the gateways to Maldon.

Ideas have been explored by Maldon District Council about some form of public art which would increase the sense of location and place as people enter the town.

Discussions have taken place according to Christopher Bailey, district council planning policy officer, but the Local Plan is taking priority in the immediate future.

He said various members of the council like the idea and officers are trying to explore what can be done.

"The idea originated from myself that we should try to do some form of public art to provide a gateway when you come into Maldon from various places such as the A414 or Langford.

"The Wycke Hill roundabout is a good site as it is one of the busiest routes into town," he said.

Mr Bailey thinks there could be support for the idea if something of interest can be thought of.
