Rayleigh pensioners are up in arms after another post office closure in the area, albeit a temporary one.
The branch, on the Chase, will be unavailable to customers until the end of the month.
Elderly residents now face a journey into the town centre to collect their pensions, leaving many stranded from their income.
Robert Mobbs, 81, said he was outraged at the closure, which follows a number of post offices being shut down across the county this year.
Mr Mobbs said: "It's a mile-and-a-half or two miles to town and you can't expect people in wheelchairs to use public transport."
A Royal Mail spokesman said the Chase post office had been closed for commercially confidential reasons.
He said: "We do apologise to our customers but there are alternative branches at Rayleigh High Street and Eastwood."
