Canvey firefighters spent the day with a nursery group teaching children all about fire safety.
They explained to the children at Northwick Park pre-school, in Third Avenue, Canvey, why they should not play with matches and when it was important to dial 999.
A Canvey fire spokesman said: "We try and visit several children's groups in the area. Even at a young age they can learn about our job, understand what the equipment is used for and the job we do."
