A man is recovering after being threatened by a gunman as he walked home at night.
Police said the victim was heading along Church Road, Basildon, on Tuesday at about 11.35pm when a car pulled up alongside him.
A man wearing a hooded top got out of the vehicle and pointed a small firearm at the terrified man.
He shouted: "Give me your money, give me your money."
The victim attempted to hand over some coins to the gunman but was told: "You are having a laugh."
The man then got back into the car and drove off.
