A squad of seven archers from Rayleigh Town were on target when they went to Andover for the National Junior Target Championships.

They shot 12 dozen arrow metric rounds on the first day and 12 dozen arrow imperial Bristol rounds on the second.

Despite bad weather for the start they all achieved creditable scores.

Luke Willett shot personal bests on both days and claimed a Rose award for his 1072 score in the Bristol Three round.

Paul Lees also shot personal best scores on both days and claimed a Rose award for his 1118 score in the Bristol Two round.

John Guiton, shooting Metric Two and Bristol Two rounds, also set new personal best scores.

He claimed a Rose award for his score of 1098 in the Bristol round. He also claimed a Six gold end award for his maximum score, six arrow end at 50 yards.

Alexander Johns, shooting Metric One and Bristol One rounds, got a new personal best with his metric score of 1106.

Jenny Jones shot Metric Two and Bristol Two rounds. She set a World and European ladies compound bow record for the Metric Two cadet woman's round with her score of 881.
