Rochford and Thorpe Bay II had a ding-dong second rubber in their Men's Division Two encounter.
Both sets went to tie breaks, with Rochford's Phil Reid and Andy Bowden winning the first and Thorpe's Malcolm Sedgwick and Chris Porter claiming the second.
The first set of the third rubber also went to a tie break, which saw Thorpe's Richard Bax and Mike Nevil prevail over Travis Arm-strong and Julian Nitescu.
Ladies' Division Three leaders Westcliff Hard II enjoyed a 5-1 win over The Ridgeway club's third string to ensure promotion.
Jeanette Fozard, Janet Sherman, Sue Jackson, Sandy Phillips, Wendy Grant and Barbara Flatt are 10 points ahead of Thorpe Bay III with just a maximum of six on offer in the remaining fixture of the season.
