A multimillion pound marina development in Leigh Old Town could produce up to 50 extra jobs, the businessman behind the plans said today.
Ron Fraser, from Westcliff, wants to convert buildings at the former Johnson and Jago boatyard into a hotel, restaurant and bar complex while improving facilities at the boatyard.
Mr Fraser said the boatyard has been running at a loss for years and he needed to find additional income.
By converting existing buildings, the hotel and restaurant would be in keeping with the rest of Leigh Old Town.
The hotel and restaurant complex could produce up to 40 jobs while increased business at the boatyard could top that up with an extra ten workers.
