Craig Fagan today admitted he rejected an offer from higher up the football ladder in order to further his career at Colchester United.
Sticking with the U's - Craig Fagan
And the up-and-coming striker - who was targeted by a Nationwide League Division One side - is determined to repay the faith shown in him by U's boss Phil Parkinson.
Fagan, preparing for tonight's Division Two showdown at Blackpool, has signed a deal until the end of next season after a successful loan spell from Birmingham City.
And the 21-year-old told the Evening Gazette: "There was interest from a club in Division One.
"But I was very pleased to sign-up for Colchester.
"I'm very happy at the club. I enjoy working with this group of players and I'm confident we can be successful.
"Phil (Parkinson) has made me feel wanted here and that's nice. It makes me determined to repay his faith."
Of the enquiry from elsewhere, Fagan said: "There was interest on deadline day last Thursday.
"It was an enquiry from a Division One club, who wanted to sign me at the end of the season. But my mind was set on Colchester."
