Colchester town hall clock has been given its own heater during the cold spell in an attempt to keep the landmark timepiece running on time.
Like many of the Colcestrians who rely on it, the Victorian clock has a long-established track record of running slower in cold snaps.
But as the temperature plummeted and snow blanketed north Essex, Colchester Council officers said they had the clock under "close observation" and had installed a heater to try and keep the town running on time.
