Youngsters across Tendring are missing out on valuable opportunities because there are not enough youth workers to keep projects going.

A number of schemes have had to close down across the district due to a shortage of staff and new ones have been unable to get off the ground.

Cynthia Hursey, Tendring locality team leader, said it was a worrying situation and made a plea for people to come forward to join the youth service.

"We are very much down on numbers at the moment and it means that there are some youngsters who are definitely missing out," she said.

There are a number of part-time places available for people with life experience and people skills and anyone interested will get paid training.

Anybody wanting more information should contact Cynthia Hursey on 01255 433800.
