Motorists were facing another day of treacherously icy roads today.
Dozens of drivers endured a longer-than-usual journey home last night as heavy snow fell in Tendring during rush-hour.
Although all the main roads were gritted, there were long queues on the Little Clacton bypass due to the heavy snow.
Yesterday, two bollards by a memorial were knocked over following a car crash.
Police said a grey Vauxhall Cavalier car was driving along Main Road, Dovercourt, at 4.30am when it lost control in the snow and went on to the pavement.
It struck the bollards, which surround the town's war memorial.
The car was removed and no-one was injured.
