A student who does voluntary work at his school has been nominated for an award.

James Townsend has been recommended for the Harwich Young Citizens' Award, which celebrates young people's contribution to the community.

The 15-year-old puts in work at the Harwich School, Hall Lane, Dovercourt, during his free time.

He is involved with the school library and helps with fundraising events.

James's nominator, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he had made a contribution to school life from an early age, including work on Mayflower Primary School garden as a pupil.

His latest nomination is in the 15-19 years category of the Harwich Young Citizens' Award, which is sponsored by the Harwich and Manningtree Standard.
