A baby in hospital with a suspected case of meningitis was today continuing to make progress.
The six-month-old is expected to be released within the next few days after a week-long stay at Basildon Hospital.
The child, who was rushed to the hospital last Thursday night, is believed to be from the Oak Road travellers site in Crays Hill, although the hospital will not confirm this.
A spokesman for the PCT said: "The child is said to be doing very well and is expected to be discharged within the next few days."
