Swimmers will be in danger of catching a dangerous gastric bug if thousands of pounds worth of work is not carried out at Castle Point's top mainland pool.
Runnymede Pool in Thundersley needs £41,195 to replace the deterorating filtration system the council's highways and leisure committee has been told.
Leisure services head Tony Galloway stressed the pool was not contaminated at present, and that swimmers were not at risk.
But contamination could cause gastro intestinal problems.
The committee agreed to the essential work.
