Pensioners over 70 in Billericay and Wickford entitled to a fare-paid concessionary bus pass will be hit by a hike in the annual cost.
Councillors at a Basildon Council meeting replaced the three-tier pricing system which saw three aged bands over the age of 60 paying different amounts for the pass.
The change will come into effect on April 1 and sees all residents over 60 paying £135 for the pass.
This means, pensioners over the age of 70 will face a hike from £105 to £135, while residents between 60 and 64 will save £60 a year and those aged 65 to 69 will save £15.
