Police today issued an urgent warning after date rape drugs were stolen from an unattended bike.
The 60 Rohypnol tablets had been left in a bag on the bike outside a Clacton supermarket in the town centre.
The owner, who suffers from diabetes, had only just collected them from the chemist.
More than 100 other prescription tablets were also taken.
A police spokeswoman said "We would warn members of the public not to take any drugs offered to them, and, when out socialising, not to leave their drinks unattended or accept drinks from strangers."
She called on anyone who might know about the theft or had been offered the drugs to contact them.
"These are prescription drugs that are used to treat a specific medical condition and could be very dangerous, if not used under medical guidance."
Anyone who knows anything about the drugs is asked to contact Clacton police on 01255 221312
