Campaigners have lost their battle to halt plans to build three new houses on a village site.
A total of 40 people wrote in letters opposing the scheme for The Path in Great Bentley.
Tendring Council also received a petition with 36 signatures from residents who did not want to see it go ahead for a number of reasons.
The site is in the village conservation area and campaigners said the proposal would neither preserve or enhance it. They claimed overdevelopment, noise and disturbance, loss of privacy and increased traffic.
While some Tendring councillors had concerns over the access, they decided to give the plans the green light after making a visit to the plot of land.
The proposal for Truegate is to retain an existing cottage and put up three new detached houses and four garages.
Nigel Hebden, Tendring Council's development control manager, said that while there were some worries over the access the highways department had no issues with the plans.
