Sara, 16, was in Belfast to compete in the Northern Ireland Open Epee Championships and defeated members of that country's Commonwealth Games squad to claim the gold medal and Rose Bowl Trophy.
The victory has secured Sara's place in the Junior Quadrangular team, fencing for Northern Ireland. She earned junior international honours when she and her team took the gold at last year's junior quadrangular match.
Last month she became Essex Ladies' Epee Champion for the second time. Sara, a pupil at Southend High for Girls, thanked her school and Southend Sports Council for their continued support and encouragement.
The 2006 Commonwealth Games will be staged in Melbourne, Australia.
