Parents have dismissed planned traffic calming measures around a school as pointless and believe a child will die before council chiefs take sufficient action.
Mother-of-two pupils at West Leigh School, Mrs Hammond, believes pavement improvements, kerb extensions and changes to double yellow lines will do little to ease traffic dangers.
The Marine Avenue resident said: "So far the double yellow lines, zigzags, pavement barriers, grass verge notices and a 20mph speed restriction have done nothing to alleviate the pandemonium that occurs during school hours.
"Until a child is injured or, God forbid, killed following a road traffic accident, nothing will seriously be done."
