A man who was bitten on the face outside a Southend nightclub spent days in hospital after he developed an infection.
The 42-year-old needed surgery to his face and lost teeth after the vicious attack. It happened just after the victim left a club in Lucy Road as he walked across the Seaway carpark to a friend's car.
As he did so he heard men inside a parked car shouting offensive remarks to some women ahead of him. When he responded there was an angry exchange of words before the two men got out of their car and attacked him.
One bit him on the left side of his jaw and he also suffered a cut to the nose. He was treated at Basildon Hospital but needed surgery when the wound became infected. The incident happened at 2am on Sunday, January 11.
The assault only came to the police's attention after the victim left hospital and reported the attack. Call Southend's assault clinic on 01702 431212.
