A pub's owners are hoping a noise restriction order won't stop them running charity fundraising days this summer.
Sue and Roy Britton took over the Bell pub in Fingringhoe Road, Old Heath, in November 2002 and have tried to make it a venue for families and community events
They were looking forward to hosting events this year, where they could raise money for charities like the Essex Air Ambulance.
But the activities didn't meet with the approval of all sections of the community and Colchester Council received complaints about noise levels from music being played.
The complaint ended in a noise abatement order being imposed and Mr and Mrs Britton recently went to court to appeal against the order.
They withdrew the appeal due to spiralling legal fees and now want to talk with environmental health officers at the council to sort out a compromise.
