Colchester missed out on going top of the table after a lacklustre display against an in-form Campion side.
The All Blacks fielded five changes to the side that beat Mersea a fortnight earlier.
Although Campion are in a rich vein of form, Colchester knew that on their day they could have won, and with local rivals Mersea Island causing an upset to beat league leaders Basildon they could have been top of the division.
Colchester are by no means out of the promotion chase, but next week's fixture at Basildon will be a must win game for both sides.
