Police have issued a warning to motorists as snow and ice heads towards Essex.
Arctic temperatures are expected to hit the county tomorrow night, with the cold spell due to last for much of the week.
Police say drivers should take extra care and as the weather gets worse, they should allow five to ten minutes for their vehicles to warm up.
All car windows should be de-misted. If extreme weather conditions reach the county, car journeys should only be made in emergencies, said an Essex Police spokesman.
