Speed camera chiefs have defended the location of one of south Essex's newest traps.
The Essex Safety Camera Partnership sparked controversy last week by announcing nine new speed cameras, including one on the westbound A127 after the Progress Road intersection.
Motorists have claimed that section of dual carriageway has excellent visibility and no junctions, making a speed camera unnecessary.
One driver from Leigh said: "There is no reason for people to drive at 40mph along this stretch. "This is clearly a cash cow, making money for police."
Essex Safety Camera Trust spokeswoman Kelly Fairweather said: "That particular camera was put up because of an accident history. "
