Three major road improvement packages costing hundreds of thousands of pounds are due to be thrashed out by councilliors.
The plans focus mainly on London Road, between Tarpots and Sadlers Farm roundabout, Somnes Avenue, Canvey, and Rectory Road, Hadleigh.
Ideas include road-widening schemes to ease traffic flow, and improved signalling and lighting to make the routes safer.
The upgrades will be discussed by the highways committee tonight.
Highways chairman Ray Howard said: "These are major schemes and the works will hopefully improve traffic flow."
