A threatened youth centre is set to be rescued, it has been revealed.
Essex County Council is to offer the 1912 Centre in Harwich to a group in the town.
Its future had been uncertain but now it looks like the former fire station, which is next to the Electric Palace cinema, could be saved.
Les Double told Harwich Town Council: "Essex County Council is putting together a letter to offer it to an organisation in the town to take control of the 1912 Centre initially on a licence for 18 months and then with an opportunity to purchase it."
One slight snag is that in the meantime, Essex Youth Service has entered the site and removed all the fixtures and fittings.
Mr Double said talks would take place to try to get them back.
