She has lived to see two World Wars, man walking on the moon and the computer age, but when Dorothy Hale was born, penicillin was still yet to be discovered.

Dorothy, who lives in the Mountdale nursing home, Moundale Gardens, Leigh, celebrated her 103rd birthday on Thursday.
Friends and family gathered as a party was held in her honour at the home.
