A probe into how a man got into a hospital ward and touched children has found security procedures worked properly.
The investigation was launched after the alert earlier this month at the children's ward at Colchester General Hospital.
As staff raised the alarm, the ex-psychiatric patient wandered around touching youngsters on the heads as though he were healing them.
The man, who was later caught and taken to the Lakes unit for treatment, got in through a security door after a cleaner opened it and he barged past.
A hospital spokesman said: "Every aspect of security procedures worked: CCTV worked, the alarm was raised and all the measures we have in place were effective."
The spokesman added: "These things don't happen very often, thank goodness, but it doesn't mean we are complacent."
