St Katherine's Primary School, in Hilton Road, Canvey, has launched a new counselling service in which pupils can talk-over their concerns with their peers.
The original idea of the lunchtime listeners was to have a problem solving workshop, but it was decided pupils would feel a greater benefit by sharing problems and talking them through.
Pupils in Year 6, who are ten or 11, run the meetings. Headteacher Rosemary Morgan said the group is popular.
