A scheme aimed at helping parents forge closer relationships with their children is being relaunched this week.
The voluntary Community Parenting Programme gives parents who feel both they and their children need extra support, a chance to discuss their concerns and learn new skills.
The intensive 11-week course, being run by the Basildon Youth Offending Team, is specifically designed for the parents of vulnerable kids aged between nine and 13.
Communication skills, how to handle young people, giving children praise and rewards, dealing with confrontation and understanding youngsters will be among the issues being handled during the classes.
The scheme - which was run successfully in the town last year - aims to give both children and parents advice and guidance outside of that given by schools or other family members.
Any parents who would like to take part should call Maureen Butler on 01245 281288.
