Kalam Mooniaruck was 'a luxury' Braintree Town could not afford, according to chairman Lee Harding.

Former Manchester United trainee Mooniaruck was released this week - four months after joining and is now having trials at Nationwide League Division Three outfit Cambridge United.

Harding said: "I feel Kalam is a luxury we cannot really afford given the position we are in."

Iron boss Dave Culverhouse added: "Kalam played over 20 games for us and I think I can count on one hand how many times he has played to his potential."
