Solutions for speeding problems in two of Castle Point's most notorious roads are set to be thrashed out by councillors.
Residents' constant efforts to get the council to address the problem seems to have paid off as the issue will be addressed at Monday's meeting of the Highways and Leisure committee.
Speeding, and cases of racing, have occurred along Station Road, Benfleet, and Smallgains Avenue, Canvey.
Deputy mayor Wendy Goodwin, a committee member, said: "I am aware of the situation in Station Road, as it is in my ward, and something needs to be done."
Committee chairman Ray Howard, a Canvey West councillor, said: "People speed along Smallgains and if something is not done soon there will be a nasty accident."
Nigel Thomas, the borough's director of Technical Services, said speed surveys may be carried out and then if there are problems additional speed signs could be the answer.
