A teenage girl claims she was abducted from a street in Leigh, police said today.
The 14-year-old girl was walking along Herschell Road when a white BMW pulled alongside her and stopped.
The driver, a man aged 18 to 20, spoke to the girl and managed to persuade her to get into his car and drove off.
A short while later the car stopped at Stirling Avenue and the young girl claims she managed to escape from the vehicle.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Det Con Phil Smith at the CID office at Southend police on 01702 431212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
