"It's easy to give up at the first hurdle but you need to keep fighting." That is the rallying cry of the NHS national support group which aims to get residents fair deals from the NHS.

Monica Perrott, chief of the on-line advisory service, has spoken out after the Evening Echo revealed two weeks ago the story of doting wife Doreen Curran.
Doreen, 68, from Oakfield Road, Benfleet, has to foot a £900 bill every month to get help for her spouse Derek, who was left unable to care from himself after a series of strokes five years ago.
Monica, who lives in Eastbourne, said: "Since 1948, under the law, the NHS are obliged to pay 100 per cent of long-term care costs, but not many people know this so there are thousands of people paying for care they should be getting free. We offer people in similar situations as Doreen free legal advice and support. It's easy to give up at the first hurdle but you need to keep fighting."
