A raft of inflation-busting car parking charge hikes are being introduced in Colchester
The increases, which will see parking tickets rising by up to 43 per cent, will take effect as soon as possible after February 16.
In the council's budget, an extra £130,000 income has been identified from increasing car parks and street parking charges. Many of the increases are between 20 per cent and 30 per cent.
Residents' permits for on-street parking will increase from £33 to £43, an increase of just over 30 per cent.
For short-stay car parks most prices will be increasing by as much as 43 per cent for a half-hour visit on a Saturday.
Sunday prices will be staying the same.
For long-stay car parks at Butt Road, Middleborough and Sheepen Road, a four-hour visit will cost £2.50, up 19 per cent from £2.10.
