A school has welcomed a new headteacher.

Christine Watkins has taken over the helm at Frobisher School in Jaywick.

And she declared: "I am enjoying the challenge."

The school found itself without a full-time head after its former head walked out after two days in charge.

However, Geraldine Fletcher said her leaving was not a resignation but was a "motivational tactic" designed to encourage staff to rally around her.

She was awarded thousands of pounds of damages for wrongful dismissal.

During the dispute, Robert Emuss, head of Coppins Green Primary School in Clacton, took over at Frobisher School too.

Mrs Watkins was previously a deputy head at a school in Hertfordshire.

She said: "I think lots of procedures have been put in place which I hope will make my way easier."
