The Pat Carlane Trophy was donated to Runnymede Swim Club by the Carlane family in remembrance of one of its most loyal parents and willing servants.
The gala held for this Trophy is now an annual event in the fixture calendar and aimed at local clubs younger swimmers.
All profits from this event are donated to a local cancer charity in Pat's honour.
Runnymede were delighted to see so many clubs come to support their gala, and were also thrilled with the support from Castle Point District Council and the pool staff and management.
They would also like to say a special thank you to Basildon Phoenix Swimming Club who not only supported the raising of much needed funds for a very worthwhile charity by attending with an excellent team, they also made a very generous extra donation of £50 to Cancer Research.
The finishing positions were as follows: 1, Runnymede 'A' (245 points); 2, Basildon Phoenix (206);3,Braintree (174);4, Southend-on-Sea (142); 5, Barking (116); 6, Runnymede 'B' (105). Runnymede 'A' Team had an outstanding evening taking 29 first places and seven seconds out a possible 49 events, with several swimmers obtaining first places in every event they competed in (excluding Cannon Relay).
