When police arrived at a domestic incident in Great Totham and saw a woman covered in blood near her doorstep they thought she had been assaulted by her ex-partner.
They later discovered that Louise Healey, 27, had in fact hit Matthew Stanley, 26, the father of her two children, in the face causing the blood flow.
Healey, of Staplers Walk, Great Totham, and Matthew Stanley, of Walsall, were bound over by Chelmsford Magistates last week (January 14) to keep the peace for 12 months in the sum of £275.
Gregor McKinley, prosecuting, said police were called to Healey's home at 9.40 pm on November 30 where they saw her with other women, her face covered in blood and though initially she had been assaulted by her ex-partner who had come earlier that day to visit their two sons.
She later admitted that she had punched Stanley in the face to prevent him entering her re-entering home after he had gone out drinking, claiming he had become violent pushing her in the back and face.
