A school has scooped a cash award to help fund its own community project
Clacton County High School in Walton Road was one of 240 winners chosen from almost 1,000 entries across the country and has picked up £2,000.
The money will be used to help pupils develop their communication skills and take part in active citizenship.
After the projects have been completed in July 2004, the best three will be chosen and those national winners will pick up a further £10,000 each.
The awards scheme has been set up by BT, in partnership with the Romford Recorder Series.
BT launched the idea last September to inspire teachers and pupils to become more actively involved in their communities.
