A cash-strapped charity was today celebrating scooping a £387,000 windfall to help keep its valuable services on the road.
Tendring Community Transport has picked up the funding from the Government to cover the costs of its operation for vulnerable residents.
Chief executive Theresa Coyne said it had only been existing from hand to mouth.
"This could not have come at a better time for us," she said.
Among the improvements will be a new route to St Osyth beach to replace a commercial operation axed several years ago, and transport to health facilities at Clacton and Colchester hospitals.
