Essex County Council made its decision to cut 100 jobs as it struggled to balance its books.

Council leader Lord Hanningfield announced the cuts today as the council revealed this year's budget.

In order to concentrate on lowering council tax in our county, Lord Hanningfield said they are expecting to lose about 100 posts.

The round of redundancies have already started and the rest are set come of the next 12 months.

Andrew Hudson, deputy chief executive, said the job cuts would not affect front line service, which have become the main priority.
