A well-known business in Southend High Street is shutting up shop and dealing with customers via a national call centre.

TV rental company Boxclever claims its customers no longer visit their stores in sufficient numbers.

The company says people increasingly prefer to go through its call centre.

A spokesman said: "Just as technology has changed, the ways our customers interact with us have changed too.

"While we continue to offer free delivery, free installation and our free repair and replacement guarantee, more and more customers now contact us through our national call centre."

The store, formerly a Radio Rentals and Granada store, will formally close on Saturday.
