Street wardens in Colchester have secured thousands of pounds of new funding to help run community projects in Old Heath.
Part of the money will be used to set up a skateboard park for young people to use in the area.
The £15,000 grant has come from the Government's Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and is being handed to the Harbour Ward Task Group to run schemes for the community.
The group, which includes representatives from Colchester Council and residents' associations, was formed last year to set up projects in the Old Heath area.
Colchester Council's team of community street wardens made an application to the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund for the grant and were pleased it had been a success.
David Trick, street wardens team leader, said: "We are delighted to help the group meet some of its aims.
"It has already carried out some good work, such as a fun day in September, and has the potential to do so much more in the future."
John Buchanan, the task group's chairman, said part of the cash will be used to continue running football coaching sessions for youngsters in Old Heath.
