Education watchdogs have praised a Dovercourt primary school for improving in all core subjects.
Ofsted commended Spring Meadow Primary School in its latest report following an inspection there.
It found the school's overall performance in 2003 was well above similar schools and that pupils were generally making satisfactory achievements.
The report said: "This school is effective in providing good quality education for its pupils.
"It has improved steadily since it was last inspected and standards have risen in all core subjects."
The report welcomed the leadership and ethos at the school, pointing to imaginative and enthusiastic teaching.
Youngsters with special educational needs - about one in seven at the school - were said to achieve well.
Recommendations for future improvements included:
raising the standard of literacy, particularly writing
ensuring plans to improve music are implemented
ensuring the special educational needs co-ordinator has enough time to fulfil her duties.
Headteacher Linda Gildea was delighted with the comments. She said: "I am very proud of what we have achieved."
