A college is to carry out a complete refurbishment of one of its rooms thanks to help from a grant.
The Local Education Authority has awarded £35,000 to Tendring Technology College.
It will be used to refurbish the food technology room at the lower school building in Thorpe.
Alan Osborn, a vice principal at the school, said: "It's the last piece of the jigsaw at lower school where we are upgrading to technology college standard.
"The food room is at present in a time warp of the 1960s. The staff do excellent work in there and both the staff and the students are deserving of much better."
He said a survey was carried out of technology rooms across the county and the college was awarded a grant.
It was going to have to find the money from its own budget to improve facilities before the money was awarded.
"What we would like to do is completely refurbish the room so we are aiming to do it in the next summer holidays," added Mr Osborn.
